About the Movement

A grassroots movement built around a written promise, a defined mandate, and the people of seven local government areas who intend to hold both to account.

Our Story

A Promise You Can Hold in Your Hand

Volunteers4Regie is more than a movement name. It is a call to action by the people of Edo South who are tired of being asked to trust a speech, and who would rather be handed a document. That document is My Contract With The People: one hundred things Rt. Hon. Engr. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama commits to pursue for this district in his first four years in the Senate, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

Every commitment in it was written against one test: is this something a Senator of the Federal Republic can lawfully pursue? Nothing in the Contract promises what belongs to a governor, a council chairman or a ministry. It promises lawmaking, representation, oversight and budget advocacy, which is the work the office actually carries, and it promises to report on all of it, every year.

Our volunteers are how that document reaches people. Men and women from Oredo to Ovia South-West, from the urban wards of Benin City to the riverine communities of the coast, united by one conviction: that representation should be measurable, and that a constituency which keeps the receipts gets better government.

The Mandate

What the Office Actually Carries

A Senator represents a senatorial district in Nigeria's National Assembly and participates in lawmaking, representation, oversight, committee work and other constitutional Senate functions.

Lawmaking

Making and supporting federal laws that advance the public interest, and sponsoring bills that address identifiable needs of Edo South and of Nigeria.

Representation

Representing the district faithfully in the National Assembly, and carrying the petitions and legitimate grievances of constituents there.

Oversight

Scrutinising federal ministries, departments and agencies through lawful oversight, and exposing waste, inefficiency and corruption.

Appropriation & Scrutiny

Scrutinising the federal budget, advocating legitimate priorities for Edo South, and monitoring what is actually implemented.
